North Dakota university locked down after audit (AP)

BISMARCK, N.D. ? Several hundred Dickinson State University students were told to get to their dorm rooms or get off campus as the university was locked down Friday afternoon.

The Bismarck Tribune reports university president D.C. Coston had called a student meeting to talk about revelations that many international students received degrees without meeting requirements.

The students were crowded in a room when Coston took the microphone about 1 p.m. and told students to leave the auditorium immediately and get to their rooms or go off campus.

A statement sent to students says the alert was due to a person missing for six hours and believed to have a weapon.

The Dickinson Press reports the campus evacuation that was in place has since been lifted.
